Oral bad habit can be very harmful to your tooth. In this blog i will discuss on this topics & I will say which all habits is very harmful to your tooth. So be aware about this & stop all the bad habits.

Stop Oral Bad Habits

Tobacco & Betel nut: Any item of tobacco & betel nut is very harmful to your health. Tobacco is one of the most destructive habits for your mouth as it not only causes discoloration of the teeth, poor oral hygiene and bad breath,abrasion, ulcer but it can also cause loss of bone density in the jaw, inflamed salivary glands, gum disease, and oral cancer.

Brushing Too Hard: If you will use hard brush can cause tooth grinding & mouth ulcer. Tooth grinding can leads to tooth sensitivity & pain. Using of hard brush can cause same problem. Brush your tooth gently don’t give more pressure to brush your tooth, use the proper technique to brush your tooth.

Thumb Sucking: Children who suck their thumbs for long time(Age after of 3years) run the risk of misalignment their new adult teeth. Upper teeth flare out, front tooth open bite, lower teeth and lip turn inwards then orthodontic treatment is needed in future. To stop thumb sucking habit breaking appliance you can use.

Nail Biting & Lip biting: Nail biting can lead to fractures and chipping of front teeth. It is a orabad habit that can begin at a young age. Stop this habit. Lip biting can causes increased front tooth space-overjet (malocclusion in front tooth).

Constant Snacking & taking more sweet item: Constant taking sugary foods and drinks, puts you at a higher risk for caries. When you eat, cavity-causing bacteria feast leftover food, producing an acid  that attacks on the tooth causes caries. It can also causes gum disease.

Mouth Breathing: If anyone is having mouth breathing habit it can cause change in facial development, it’s leads to malocclusion, tooth crowding. Its also can causes gum problem. Its can also effect other general health also.


Grinding and Clenching: This can cause tooth attrition or cracking of the teeth, as well as muscle tenderness or joint pain. It can also cause tooth periodontal problems. Commonly mental stress leads to tooth grinding & clenching problems.  If you are having grinding & clenching habit then you can use night guard tooth appliance.
